Hey parents, you go every Saturday to watch your daughter or son playing netball. Ever thought you might like to play with them??

We are looking to grow our Mixed section on Thursday Night for family  teams. Currently, we have four teams of families and friends who haven’t played a lot but decided to do something together. And what better way by getting out, doing something as a family and getting exercise at the same time.

Here is what one player has said:

After a 27-year break from social, mixed netball I returned to the game as part of a family team on Thursday nights. Our team is made up of Mums, Dads, teenage sons and teenage daughters ranging from age 14 to 51 years old of varying levels of fitness and ability.  We all love the opportunity to do something active with our kids that does not involve screens and devices.  It also gives us weekly time to work on our fitness and time with friends whom we otherwise would not see regularly. 

Currently I play with my son and one of my daughters.  I feel old on the court, and really out of practice, but it is great quality time together.  The younger, fitter players have been great at looking out for us “oldies” and so far, we are injury-free into our second season.

Whilst we lack success according to our scorelines, we always succeed in laughing a lot and having heaps of fun together.  The family teams are definitely about building relationships, having fun and being active.”

Our philosophy on Thursday Night is FUN: FITNESS: FRIENDSHIP based on mutual respect for everyone who is a member of the competition- Players, Umpires, Administrators.

We are not playing for sheep stations, but we are about enjoying the time together, having a few laughs and just getting some fitness at the same time.

So if you want to spend time with your kids away from phones and TVs, come along and play a social game of netball with like-minded teams!!
